Gerrard Houllier has put Villa fans into fury after his return to Liverpool.

Gerard Houllier has told Gabriel Agbonlahor’s to give up his weights programme prescribed by his former manager Martin O’Neill.

The Frenchman believes three time England capped Agbonlahor has mistakenly spent too much time in the gym increasing his physique.

Following the arrival of 37 year old Robert Pires this week, Villa have been linked with recruiting another veteran.

Robert Pires is set to sign for Villa.  The 37-year-old is currently unattached and can therefore sign outside of the transfer window.

As fate has it, his debut is likely to be against Arsenal, the side he has been training with while on the lookout for a Premier League move.

Pires told The Sun:

"I just have to convince the team doctor and I hope to sign before the end of the week.

"It would be for six months or longer, but there are still some things to sort out.

"I've been training with Arsenal for two months and I'm happy and in good form. I would like to thank Arsene Wenger - because of him I'm going to be able to experience the highest level again."
